What’s in a Name… The Big Conference – what?

by Lynnelle on September 2, 2009

The Big Conference: …social media, beyond Facebook. …social marketing …business 2.0

Thought to self: "be more descriptive – differentiate from other 'social media' events on the calendar".

Candidly, I'm sick of the term "social media" – It's as overused as
"Green" is and "Sustainable" is becoming. Not sure how else toThe Big Conference describe it though.

The Big Conference: integrating
conversational, community-based, fun, interactive,
social,
text/photo/audio/video-based stuff th
at's taking over the world – into your business.

How's THAT? What do you think?  Here's
the BIG Conference lineup to date:

  • Chris Brogan, New Marketing Labs: Successful Social Media  = Content Publishing = Value Marketing
  • Mike Volpe, Hubspot: Conversion, Landing Pages, Offers
  • Corissa St. Laurent, Constant Contact: Email Marketing – LInking Traditional & Social Marketing
  • David Alston, Radian6:  Measuring Results – ROI & SEO
  • Tim Haydon, GPExperience: Up Next: Mobil Marketing
  • "How'd We Start & When, What, Why'd We Do It?:  Laurie Brooks, LLBean;   TBD;  Fred Abaroa, Costa Vida Fresh Mexican Grill
  • BIG Dogs Onstage - Panel Discussion and Q/A with the speakers

So I ask you – The BIG Conference: what? online, conversational, community-based, fun, interactive, social, text/photo/audio/video-sharing stuff that we do?

Or should we just leave it at that; The BIG Conference? It just seems there needs to be a descriptor sub-title, but maybe not.

You ask, who's our target market for this conference and what would THEY think?

The Big Conference is for the business person, the business owner or professional trying to do more and improve the bottom line in an efficient and smart way. This isn't going to be a day of Facebook and Twitter instruction
but discussions at a broader level. We'll be talking about how new and social media and how various tools/portals/applications are effecting your business in the short and long term; a broader look of how to be successful in this new environment and why it's important in the first place.

So!!
If you're responsible for a business' sales, marketing, communications,
PR efforts, mark your calendar for October 13th.
And take note, if you are already wise
to the ways of social media you'll learn even more. It's not every
day you get this group on a stage together in your own back yard.
